    4630The Last Flight for 2015…

Black Shadow and Jolly Roger were out flying this morning and they both had great flights. Jolly Roger has its own facebook page. Jolly Roger has over 400 friends. I am still amazed that people want to be friends with an aircraft. If you want to be a friend to Jolly Roger the page is https://www.facebook.com/jollyroger62424659

Priest Lake and the Colville Fly-in 2015

    Friday, December 25th, 2015

This was perhaps our last good flying weather before the fires of 2015 ravaged the Pacific NW. You will see the smoke from the first fires off in the distance beginning to creep in. By the following day, visibility was down to less than 5 miles! George and I had a great time exploring the hills around Priest Lake and enjoying relatively calm winds … in the early morning. Once we landed at Colville and spent a little time with the folks in attendance, we took off but not with out dong a low flyby for the spectators. Who knows, maybe it was too low of a pass and nobody saw us – maybe it was a ‘Stealth’ pass!

    Notice issued to pilots

    Notice issued to pilots

Santa is Airservices top priority on Christmas Eve! Despite his magical sleigh and team of reindeer, Santa has a very limited time to deliver his valuable cargo (all those toys for all you boys and girls) so he needs help from Airservices and our Santa Commanders!

Our air traffic controllers see Santa’s sleigh on their radars so they know where he is at all times but other aircraft don’t. This means our controllers must give Santa special clearance and make sure any other aircraft near him on the night stay away from his unique flight path.

Airservices sends out a notice to airmen (NOTAM) to all aircraft travelling that night to make sure they know to stay clear of Santa’s sleigh. This year Santa Commanders Toby, Bella, Imogen and Jackson assisted Santa and Airservices with the notice to airmen.NOTAM

MUST SEE – 9000 Miles Journey with Ultralight Trike in 2015

    Thursday, December 17th, 2015

This is the 5th “9000 Miles Trike Journey” movie. I made the first one in 2011. This year was a bit different and special to me with two accomplishments. The first, I became a CFI (Certified Flight Instructor for trike). The second, I got the new SLSA trike, “BumbleBee Revo”. Special thanks to Leo Fitzgerald and Reb Wallace for your great support for the process of my CFI license. Many thanks to Larry Mednick and Amy Saunders for the delivery of such a fantastic machine. Many thanks to all of my pilot friends and my wife Mimi for your great supports. Finally, I wish Merry Christmas to all of my channel subscribers.

YFT great weekend…. at Gathering of Moth….

4528The plan was set many weeks before to have a great weekend of flying. They say time flies when you’re having fun, I just can’t believe that the year has gone so quickly. It only seems like yesterday that I was doing this same plan, and yet another year has flown by! So the plan was to get as many aircraft together to fly to the Mt Beauty Gathering of the Moths. The weather was looking good and the pilots were keen to do this flight. (more…)
