    Lucas Smoke

    Tuesday, January 28th, 2014

I was recently informed that this item, and the subsequent auction, was created by Craig Bolton, of Autodynamics in Belington, WV.  He writes “It tickles me that the auction lives on via your webpage” and kindly gives me permission to continue to use it on this site.

Craig adds: “I have one confession to make- The unit was not actuially destroyed. It’s currently in Atlanta, serving as a trickle-replenisher to keep the electrics going on Stacey Shepens’ Lotus-Morgan race car.  One George Wolf purloined the thing from our display case at Import Carlisle and spirited it south  so he could use the time he normally spent hooking up the battery charger drinking beer and exaggerating his importance.”

    Australia Day BBQ

    Tuesday, January 28th, 2014

03337Perfect Weather for our Australia Day BBQ!

Now that the day is over, I would like to claim the weather conditions…. Thanks to the over fifty people who flew or drove in to share Australia Day at Hangar 19. People flew from Mansfield, Albury, Bright, Gisborne, Warnambool and La Trobe Valley to partake of the company of fellow pilots over lunch provided by YFT and “a plate” donated by those who came. Peter and Anne wish to thank everyone for joining us to make another Australia Day so special.

FSA issue 96 – Blind faith

    Tuesday, January 28th, 2014

It’s the stuff of nightmares. At a critical moment during flight you turn to your electronic flight bag (EFB) needing information right then and there. Staring back at you is an uncooperative screen, telling you it’s too hot, or has insufficient power to continue. Suddenly you’re left scrabbling for that vital information-in ink rather than pixels-but by then, is it too late?

Do you even have a plan B?

    Microlight Lawrie

    Thursday, January 23rd, 2014

6290Lawrie is nearly ready for solo.

This morning saw a 25kt NE wind and it was not smooth either. Lawrie was up and at it doing X-wind circuits. Yes Lawrie is doing well.

    Microlight Michael

    Thursday, January 23rd, 2014

    03321Michael’s back flying.

Michael needed to check out some sheep that he had purchased and put in a paddock north of the aerodrome. Well his father told him to take the bike… But not Michael, he jumped into his aircraft and off he went. Yes all 360 sheep were fine.

    Another Trike Licence at YFT

    Sunday, January 12th, 2014

    03239Jon gains his wings.

After much hard work and 29 flying hours, Jon passed his flight test this morning. He had been studying hard and working towards gaining a flight picture for landing for several months, with large gaps in his training. But it all came together, and he was ready to be tested today. As with all other newly licenced pilots, he now has a licence to learn… Well done Jon.

Ian, from Townsville, returns to YFT

    Sunday, January 12th, 2014

    03211BFR Time already…

It hardly feels like two years since Ian did his training, but Ian has been hanging out for a trike-flying fix, and came down for two weeks of sheer flying bliss, and reading relaxation before returning home to WORK! Ian flew over ten hours in both the Tanarg Bionix 13 and the Airborne XT-912 Arrow. He also received his trophy for the First Flight of the Year flight.
