    Sunday, December 15th, 2013

01806Ian gets his Licence in the Pirate Ship…

It has been a very busy weekend. Ian accrued his hours by Saturday afternoon, and was all set for his flight test early Sunday morning. PeterĀ  put him through his paces and Ian earned the right to be known as a Pilot. He promptly went out and attacked the thermals for another hour’s flying before returning to Real Life in the big smoke. Congratulations Ian, for a job well done.

    Pilot goes SOLO

C03036Jeff goes Solo and then three days later he earns his Wings.

Jeff went solo in his Outback Trike and then he notched up the hours very quickly. It was great to see the Skill level rise as Jeff was put through the advanced training. It was then time for his Licence test…. Jeff passed with flying colours, then packed up and trailered his aircraft home. Jeff has now joined the ranks of Pilot!

    Well done Jeff.

C03002Jeff Starts Flying his Outback with the new Streak 2B….

The weather hasn’t been really great, but Jeff is getting some good flying in. Yesterday Jeff flew his first Nav flight to YCOR. The wind was blowing 25 to 30kts and yes, naturally, it was a cross wind. I believe the comment was “it was a little exciting”. This morning Jeff flew his Outback with the new Streak 2B wing, and once again the wind was about 20kts and also a cross wind, but what a great flight! Jeff is really happy now. As I write, it is nearly 2000 hours, and Peter and Jeff are about to execute circuits again, now that the wind has dropped and the heat has gone out of the ground taking the thermals with it.

    C02927Jon and the Streak 3…

Jon arrived back at YFT, on Saturday, after a ten week spell from flying while work kept him away. After flying to regain skills that had dwindled because of the long break, Jon remarked that he really enjoyed the last part of his first flying lesson. He completed 1.8 hours of flying over the weekend, and lots of theory, and is getting closer to his goal of becoming a pilot.

    Sunday, December 1st, 2013

    C02930History was made yesterday….

Ian became the first person, in Australia, to solo in the Pegasus QuikR high performance Trike yesterday. After starting his training in a XT-912 and then buying the QuikR, Ian completed his training by soloing in his QuickR commonly known as the Pirate ship at YFT.

C02932Well done Ian and today it was X-wind landings in a 25kt gusty wind.
