    New Trike

    IMG_0403Willie and his new ride.

Don’t think I would win the Melbourne Cup on this ride, although we were leading the herd at one stage!

This is the most uncomfortable ride ever and not good for your coccyx!

A few weeks before our ride one of the elephants stood on its trunk and fell down throwing both the handler and paying passenger to the ground. Luckily no one was injured.

    Formation Friday

    Friday, July 26th, 2013

    01DiamondIts Formation Friday again…

This Formation Friday had a four aircraft formation. Number one Ken, Number two Faye, Number three Gary, and Number four CFI Peter. The formation departed and formed up in a Left Echelon. This was followed by a Diamond formation, and then a Head to Head. The formation then rejoined up in a Diamond again and changed to a Left Echelon, for the Pitch and Recover landing. Another great formation flight.

Yesterday Peter went SOLO in his XT-912 SST. After flying circuit after circuit it was time, and CFI Peter stepped out of the aircraft and away Peter D went. Peter did two circuits and then it was back to the hangar for the photo with the Solo can. Well done Peter.

    Tanarg Flight

    Sunday, July 21st, 2013

    C01262BFR for Bruce

Bruce arrived on Sunday morning to do his BFR, and he had an option. Do I fly the XT-912 Arrow, with which I am familiar, or do I fly the Air Creation Tanarg with the Bionix 13 wing? The answer was simple…”Tanarg please.” After a briefing about all the differences between the two aircraft, and the flying characteristics of the Bionix 13 wing, he took to the sky for a one hour flight, with CFI Peter in the rear seat. On return, Bruce did one of his best landings, and in a 15 kt crosswind, too. Well done Bruce.

    Sunday, July 21st, 2013

01194Six Students from Ha Noi go flying.

The six high school students were in Australia to check out the high schools in the Albury, Wodonga area. It was the perfect time to go for a fly. The five girls and one boy took their turns flying over the Yarrawonga area. Most of the students remarked that it was the best thing they had ever done…

    Flight Above the Clouds

    Wednesday, July 17th, 2013

    Formation Wednesday…

After waiting for hours for the fog to clear, it turned out to be a perfect day above the clouds. A flight of two departed off runway 01 and climbed to 3500 feet, above the clouds. The two aircraft had a tight formation flight around the town.

    Formation Tuesday

    Tuesday, July 16th, 2013

    01202Formation Tuesday….

Today started with fog. The fog started to clear but then turned into low cloud. CFI Peter took off to check out the sky. The cloud base was 1600 feet, but closer to Wangaratta there was a open patch and CFI Peter climbed through to find a beautiful sunny day. The cloud tops were only 2500 feet, and he flew along a 01220spectcular “cloud street” towards the mountains. After a half hour in the sun it was time to head back. A descent back through the large hole in the cloud revealed a misty rain covering Yarrawonga. Later in the day the cloud lifted and it was time for some formation flying. X-Ray Tango Flight consited of Faye as Lead, Ken Number as Number One, and CFI Peter as Number three. Today’s formation consisted of a join-up over the aerodrome in Left Echelon. Then after a circuit of the local area the formation changed to a VEE Formation, and once again a circuit would be made of the local area before changing to a Right Echelon Formation. The formation then descended into the circuit to finish with a Pitch and Recover Landing. What a day. We  started with fog and ended up with a magnificent sunset formation flight.

    Beware the Drop Bear.

    Beware the Drop Bear.

This little article came to me from the Mudgee Mauler (Bill Beamish). It’s a series of Emails downloaded from the Corby Starlet Website. Of course Bill added his own flair to liven up the emails, as only he could!!!

    It starts like this:

“Hi everyone, Well let’s see, the elevator is 90% complete, The Fin and Rudder are 75% complete (waiting for the fuselage to make any final adjustments prior to skinning. I am currently working on the Rudder and elevator horns and setting up to start the horizontal stabilizer. I’m deweling over the instruments layout via CAD, the tail wheel set up and doing my taxes. I’m shooting for June to start the fuselage layout, hope to have it sitting on the gear by November, Start the wing in Feb 2003 and first flight in June 2004. We’ll see so far I’m two months behind schedule. The weather is getting better, of course that means the grass starts to grow along with other things. The Honey dew’s never stop coming. oh well progress is progress.

Hope to make the 2006 party, good building all. T.W.”

A Diary from a Trike Pilot – That has moved to paradise!

    Dear Diary:

    August 12th

Moved to our new home in Ohio. It is so beautiful here. The hills are so majestic. Can hardly wait to see them from the air in our trike, and they also get covered in snow. I love it here.

    October 14th

Ohio is the most beautiful place on earth. The leaves are turning all the colours and shade of red and orange. Went for a fly through the beautiful hills and saw some deer. They are so graceful, certainly the most wonderful animal on earth.

This is pilots paradise. I love it here.
