    Wangaratta Aero Club BBQ

    Thursday, June 27th, 2013

    Wangaratta Aero Club BBQ

C01026What a BBQ lunch it was. Five aircraft from YFT attended. The flight to Wangaratta was just brilliant. The clear skies and the mountains in the distance was a sight to behold. Circuit traffic was a bit interesting, with Faye on final on the duty runway, and an L-39 jet deciding to roll in the opposite direction. It was a worry… Has airmanship gone out the window. The Wangaratta Aero Club put on another fantastic lunch, and it was great to see soC01036 many aircraft and aircrew having such a great time. I hope this is a sign of things to come. Well WAC, and thanks to all the pilots from YFT that attended.

    C00709Noel starts training on TB13…

Having just purchased his own Air Creation Tanarg, Noel started training on Saturday, in our TB13. Having flown General Aviation aircraft, it won’t take Noel long to get the swing of the new Tanarg. After only two hours, Noel was into the circuit training phase, and settling the aircraft beautifully onto the runway. Noel’s wife, Jan, sat in the rear seat of the XT-912 Arrow, and then sat in the back of the Tanarg, and she said, “I think we might have to extend the budget to buy a Tanarg, if you want me to fly with you ….although you might have to sell your motorbike!” Noel’s Tanarg is red, along with his new helmets.

    Formation Weekend

    Wednesday, June 12th, 2013

    C005875 days of Formation.

David, from NSW, decided to start Formation Training at YFT. Day One… David is checked out in the XT-912 Arrow, the aircraft he will be flying. The second aircraft in the formation is an XT-912 Streak 3. The first formation flight was conducted with CFI Peter in the rear seat keeping a close eye on David’s close-proximity flight. The first flight was flown at about five aircraft lengths apart. C00681The next flights would be much closer. After the first hour of formation David was quite pleased with himself. David’s second Day… was much the same with a two aircraft formation. Then came Day three… A four aircraft formation. This is where you really have to be on the ball. David came through with flying colours. That formation was a 1.3 hour formation flight. Days four and five were back to two aircraft formation flights. David has come a long way from his first flight. Well done. Thanks to the other Formation Pilots for your precision flying.

    Megafauna Fly-away 2013 Bathurst…

C0048134 aircraft, 53 aircrew, one bus, and a whole ship load of fun. Yes that’s the best way to discribe this years Megafauna Fly-away. We had tail winds for the first three days and rain on the lay day. A really good tail wind on the leg from Bathurst to Parkes, and then head winds all the way home. I didn’t clam the weather until we were on the ground. Thanks to all the crew who joined Anne and myself for this trip. I will write a full article later.
