    YFT Fly-away for Breakfast

    Sunday, November 28th, 2010

    Sunday Breakfast at Paul Davenport’s

    YFT aircraft at Pual's airfield

    YFT aircraft at Paul's airfield

Who slept in? yes it was me… But despite all the rain overnight, by 0800 hours three aircraft were ready to go. The strip at Paul’s was dry enough to be used, and the wind was a northerly. ” North?” “Yes.” But at Yarrawonga it was blowing from a south westerly

    As we depart

    As we depart

direction! The overcast sky was clearing from the south west,  so we agreed to head off. Surprisingly it was quite a smooth trip.We were met by friends who had driven in, but David and Alan, Willem and Terry,(his REAL MAN friend, who forgot to bring gloves and a jacket!),  and Peter and Anne, were the only people who actually FLEW to the fly-in. We all enjoyed catching up. Rosemary Withers and Anne talked gardens, while Greg used his crutches to get around. A lovely breakfast of egg-in-bread, bacon and pancakes was cooked for everyone, and Paul gave us a tour through his delightful strawbale home complete with his wife’s patchwork! We flew home with a tailwind, detouring over Lake Mulwala to see the speed boats before landing. From early morning weather that looked very “iffy”, the day developed into great flying and socialising. Thanks Paul! Next time we’ll try to encourage more of our group to fly with us.

    Eildon Weir Flight

    Glenda flies over Eildon Weir

    Lake Eildon Nov 2010

    Lake Eildon Nov 2010

It was only a week ago when Glenda arrived at YFT in her beautiful Cessna 150 to have a coffee. We were talking about places to fly, I mentioned that I would like to see how much water Boonie Doon has under the bridge. I haven’t seen

    Lake Eildon Nov 2010

much water under the bridge for at least two decades. Glenda mentioned that she was planning to fly down that way for a look. I asked Glenda to let me know how much water was now under the bridge. As you can see, there is a lot! Thanks for the photos Glenda.

    YFT Goes Low Flying

    Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Another Low Flying Course will get underway in the New Year.

    XT-912 SST Low Flying

    XT-912 SST Low Flying

The afternoon was fine and the wind was only 10kts from the North… Yes the ideal time for some low flying. I decided to do to flights, one by myself, and the other with a PAX. The first flight was a recon over the low flying area to make sure that the area was clear. With the “all clear”, down I went at 90kt and 200 feet above the water. Was it FUN… Oh Yeah! Was it stressful? Absolutely!

    SST Low Flying

After having so much fun on the the first flight, it was time to pick up Anne with the camera for the next round. Once again I overflew the low flying area for a recon. With the “all clear”, down we went to run the course again. Anne complained that it was too hard to take many photos as we were just moving too fast and she didn’t have the time to get the camera set up for the shot. I however had our two G0-Pro cameras firing off at 10 second intervals. Yes, I got some good shots. Yes, we both had fun!

    YFT Close Formation over Yarrawonga

    Monday, November 22nd, 2010

Look to the skies, was the cry on Saturday afternoon.

    XT-912 SST

    XT-912 SST

A close formation of XT-912 SST’s flew in formation over the town. Two well matched crews and aircraft flew a tight formation from one end of Lake Mulwala to the other. People on the ground remarked that the aircraft looked great and they were so close.

Something to look forward to in the coming months when the YFT Formation training courses start.

    Hornet visits YFT

    Monday, November 22nd, 2010

A new Hornet on its delivery flight stopped overnight at YFT.

    Ken Smith & Ole Hartmann

    Ken Smith & Ole Hartmann

Ole Hartmann, designer and manufacturer, and new owner Ken Smith, arrived for an overnight stop at YYWG. What a fantastic aircraft, it not only looks good, but it flies like a dream. This aircraft is a real pilots machine. All the areas of concern are very accessible. Ole has really put a lot of thought into his design and it shows in the end product. We hope to see Ken in his new aircraft on some of our fly-aways.

    YFT Flies to Holbrook

    YFT Flies to Holbrook!

YFT crew next to the Birdog

YFT crew next to the Bird Dog

Saturday 6th November brought a clear, sunny, spring morning, with the obligatory strong headwind, as Willem, in his Airborne 912 Cruze Wing trike, took off and tracked for Holbrook, followed several minutes later by the Airborne 912 Streak 3 Wing trikes of David, with Tom, (one of our newest students), as his passenger, and Faye. (Early in 2010 Faye had called in to Hangar 19 Pilot Shop to purchase a carbon monoxide detector for her travelling tin tent on wheels. She claims it was a very expensive purchase, because she also had a TIF, which led to lessons and conversion to weight-shift, then the purchase of a 912 trike, and, this week she purchased a dwelling in Yarrawonga. I guess she is right about the expensive carbon monoxide detector!) Peter and Anne left next in their Airborne 912 SST Wing trike, followed by Nigel in his trusty Skyfox. Glenda had arranged to fly directly from Corowa in her Cessna 150.

    Warbird Adventure Flights

    Sunday 14th Nov

    Winjeel

    Winjeel

YFT will be holding a Warbird flight at YYWG, if you are interested in flying in the RAAF WinjeeI you can sign up for a flight.

It will cost $308.00 for a 20min flight. This aircraft has three seats, so this means it is possible to fly with the pilot plus two flightcrew. So if you and a friend would like to fly, the cost is $308.00 for the two of you, but if you want to go for a full-on aerobatic flight, it will be just you and the pilot, and it will cost you $308.00 for the 20min full-on flight.

All flights are subject to weather. If you would like to be part of this day. Just email me on yft@yarrawongaflighttraining.com.au.
