Aircraft at Hangar 19

About sixty people attended the Australia Day Chat ‘n Chew BBQ at YFT’s Hangar 19 facility at Yarrawonga Aerodrome. A variety of aircraft flew in for the occasion, and even the Women’s Pilot Assosiation was represented around one table! People flew and drove to the venue, and for a few hours the hangar talk was fast and furious, as pilots of all types and experience levels happily chatted and chewed away…

On the 26th of January 2010, Yarrawonga Flight Training pilots, Peter McLean (CFI), Ingo Schweda and Michael Sheel conducted a three aircraft formation flyover for the crowd at the Australia Day activities on the Lake Mulwala foreshore. The crowd witnessed a tight V-formation and an Eschelon Right fly pass, followed by a pitch -and-recover back at the airfield.

Formation training has been a common sight over the lake lately, as several of YFT’s former students wish to take on the advanced disciplines of formation training. YFT CFI, Peter McLean, is one of only a handful of instructors that are licenced to do this training.

Cade Moore Student Pilot

Cade Moore, one of the local boys, took to the skies again. Cade is a natural pilot and he’s only 12! Cade started his flying career by helping out at YFT on the weekends along with a number of other young people. They were given the option of joining the Junior Marshall program run by YFT. This would give the younger members of the flying communitee real experience around aircraft under the watchful eye of the CFI. One of their main tasks, after marshalling, is to operate the aircraft tug. The boys even did a push back on a Cessna Citation Jet. Most of the Junior Marshalls have completed the CASA Air Legislation, Radio, and Human Factors exams, and passed with nothing less than 98%. Cade has a RAAus student pilot’s licence and is gaining hours as he earns  money working in the Westside Caravan Park.

MFTA Pilots

Six Pilots from Moorabbin Flight Training Academy arrived today. The Trainee Pilots visit YFT most weeks during their navigation flights. It’s great to see the boys enjoying their flight training. Most pilots visiting Yarrawonga Aerodrome take advantage of the YFT refreshment centre to grab a hot or cold drink during their stay.
